Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remark at an election rally in Rajasthan on Sunday triggered a war of words between the BJP and the Congress. PM Modi said that the Congress would distribute the country’s wealth, if voted to power, to “those who have more children”.
While Congress claimed the Prime Minister was lying and was creating a divide between Hindus and Muslims, the BJP hit back with a clip of former PM Manmohan Singh from 2006 in which he could be heard saying that Muslims had the first claim on the country’s resources.
During the rally earlier in the day, PM Modi called Congress an “urban naxal” party.
“The Congress manifesto says they will calculate the gold with mothers and sisters, get information about it and then distribute that property. They will distribute it to whom – Manmohan Singh’s government had said that Muslims have the first right on the country’s assets,” PM Modi said during a rally in Banswara.
“Earlier, when their (Congress) government was in power, they had said that Muslims have the first right on the country’s assets. This means to whom will this property be distributed? It will be distributed among those who have more children.
“It will distributed to the infiltrators. Should your hard-earned money go to the infiltrators? Do you approve of this?” he said.
The Prime Minister also said that the Congress, if voted to power, will snatch and redistribute gold and hard earned money to “illegal immigrants” and asked people whether this was acceptable to them.
“The Prime Minister speaks in a poisonous language on a whole lot of issues. He should also answer a simple question – Since 1951, census has been conducted every ten years. This reveals the actual data of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe population. This should have been done in 2021 but has not been done till date. Why is the Prime Minister silent on this?” Ramesh said.
