Caitlyn Jenner on Thursday celebrated the death of football star OJ Simpson by sharing her unfiltered response to the convicted felon’s passing.
“On Wednesday, Orenthal James Simpson passed away from prostate cancer, as confirmed by his family’s statement shared on X (formerly known as Twitter). The Simpson family expressed that he peacefully succumbed to his battle with cancer on April 10th, surrounded by his children and grandchildren. They request privacy and grace during this period of transition.”
Soon after 76-year-old NFL star’s demise was reported in the media, the 74-year-old former Olympian took to X, and wrote: “Good Riddance #OJSimpson.”
“In 1994, Simpson was arrested and charged with the murder of his second wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, who was found stabbed to death alongside her friend, Ron Goldman. Although acquitted of the criminal charges, Simpson faced a civil lawsuit filed by the victims’ families in 1997, where he was found liable for their deaths.”
“From 1991 to 2015, Caitlyn was married to Kris Jenner, a close friend of Nicole Brown. Throughout Simpson’s 1995 murder trial, Kris’s first husband, Robert Kardashian, whom she was married to from 1978 to 1991, served as one of Simpson’s defense lawyers.”
“In 2021, Jenner alleged that Simpson had made previous threats to Brown, stating that he would ‘kill her and get away with it.’ During an episode of Australian Big Brother VIP, the reality TV star revealed to fellow contestants that Simpson had also told his wife, ‘I’ll kill you and get away with it because I’m OJ Simpson.’
Describing the period as an ‘extraordinarily difficult time,’ Jenner further expressed, ‘Nicole was Kris’ best friend, had been for a long time. I was at Nicole’s house two days before the murder.'”
“In the 1990s, the NFL player and actor faced accusations of killing Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman. The highly publicized 1995 trial, watched by almost 100 million people worldwide, ended with Simpson being acquitted, earning it the moniker ‘the trial of the century.’ However, in 1996, he was found liable for the deaths in a civil lawsuit filed by the victims’ families. Simpson was ordered to pay $33.5 million in compensatory and punitive damages.”
“Simpson was incarcerated for nine years after being convicted of the 2008 armed robbery and kidnapping of two sports memorabilia traders in Las Vegas. He was released from prison in 2017.”
