This visa will be given to that special personality, who has done remarkable work for environmental protection. Underlining the UAE’s strong commitment to the environment, the Prime Minister stressed, ‘The sustainability of our economy is linked to the sustainability of our environment. Our country’s path in this area is clear and consistent.
Mohammed bin Rashid reiterated the country’s determination to protect the environment, adopt cutting-edge international technology and enhance the higher education system during a cabinet meeting on Wednesday. He said that the Blue Visa has been started for the long-term objectives of the country to protect and promote the environment.

UAE has come up with this golden initiative for environmental champions. This is known as ‘Blue Residency’. This 10-year visa is specially designed for individuals who have shown exceptional work or dedication to environmental protection inside or outside the country. The initiative aims to promote sustainability within and outside the UAE in line with the country’s commitment to environmental protection and sustainability.
Who will be eligible for this visa?
The Blue Visa is a type of special resident permit in the UAE. Only those who have shown remarkable commitment and impact in various environmental domains including marine life, land-based ecosystems, air quality, eco-friendly technology, circular economy will be eligible for this visa.
This is how you can apply
Eligible individuals can apply for a Blue Visa through the Federal Certificate of Identity, Department of Citizenship, Customs and Port Protection (ICP) Authority. Officials related to these departments can also nominate them. The Blue Visa entitles the holder to long-term residency in the UAE, opportunities to collaborate on environmental projects, access to funding and resources, and recognition for their contribution to environmental protection
