PC shipments in India recorded the largest ever figure in Q3 2024, a market research firm reported. HP maintained its leadership position in the PC category (which includes desktops, notebooks, and workstations) this quarter as well, like the previous quarter, with shipments of over one million units.
Increasing demand for premium notebooks, priced above $1000 (roughly Rs. 84,000) during festive sales was cited as the reason for this growth, resulting in a 7.6 percent year-on-year (YoY) growth. However, the consumer segment declined compared to the previous year, despite vendors offering attractive discounts on products.
PC shipments in India Q3 2024 According to IDC (International Data Corporation) report, PC shipments in India grew 0.1 percent to 4.492 million units in Q3 2024 from 4.486 million units in Q3 2023.
This information is taken from IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly Personal Computing Device Tracker, which also mentioned that the professional and enterprise segments grew 4.4 percent and 9.6 percent year-on-year, respectively.
The decline in the consumer segment was relatively less and natural, as vendors did not overstock in the third quarter. Desktop shipments saw a decline of 8.1 percent year-on-year, while notebooks and workstations grew marginally by 2.8 percent and 2.4 percent, respectively.
Demand for premium notebooks also grew 7.6 percent, higher than the same quarter last year. HP Maintains Dominance in India’s PC Market in Q3 HP topped the Indian PC market in Q3 2024 with a 29 percent market share and shipment of 1.3 million units.
The report also highlighted that HP experienced a 30.2 percent year-on-year growth in its enterprise segment. Strong demand for its consumer notebooks helped the company achieve its third-biggest quarter.
At the same time, Lenovo had a total market share of 17.3 percent, and its business segment accounted for 20.3 percent, with enterprise orders and growing momentum in the small and medium business (SMB) segment contributing to the growth. Acer Group and Dell Technologies shared the third spot with a 14.6 percent market share. Asus ranked fifth with a 9.7 percent market share, although it declined 22.3 percent year-on-year.
